Spring Forward! Gearing up for our new Broadway openings

What’s better than one Broadway opening? Three Broadway openings of course! Crossroads Live are thrilled to be backing a trio of productions beginning this month.

2026 may have kicked off with unprecedented snowfall in New York, with a blizzard seeing Broadway literally turn into The Great White Way from late January through February, but now Spring is in the air and audiences are looking forward to the swathe of new productions coming up.

First up on the Crossroads Live roster is the Olivier award-winning Titanique, which makes its debut at the St James Theatre from 26 March. This irresistibly irreverent comedy, featuring the music of Celine Dion blended with a parody of the movie Titanic, began life in LA and New York in 2017 and 2018, before running Off-Broadway from 2022 – 2025. Since then, there have been productions in Australia, Chicago, Paris, Canada, and the West End, where it has just extended again.

Hot on their heels is Beaches, based on the best-selling novel that became the blockbuster 80’s movie starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey. The new musical begins previews at the Majestic Theatre on 27 March following a season at Theatre Calgary in 2024. This love story about friendship is directed by Lonny Price and Matt Cowart, with a score that includes the iconic Grammy award-winning number sung by Bette Midler, Wind Beneath My Wings.

The final production of our Spring triumvirate is The Lost Boys which is planning to take audiences on the ride of their lives when it invites them into the Palace Theatre on 27 March. This new musical version of the cult 80’s vampire comedy movie is produced by special arrangement with Warner Bros Theatrical Ventures and features an original soundtrack from The Rescues.

We’re hoping that these new musicals can emulate the success of Just In Time which opened last March at the Circle in the Square Theatre. This co-production has gone on to receive rave reviews, consistently achieving over 90% attendance and over $1 million at the box office at the intimate cabaret-style venue.

Even with such a bleak start to the year Broadway grosses are 7.3% ahead of the previous year, with attendance also up by 2.6%. As a reminder the 2024 – 2025 season saw the highest gross in recorded history at a record-breaking $1.89 billion with attendance of 14.7 million so these early numbers are an encouraging sign of green shoots for the Broadway landscape.
