What we're looking for:
We are currently seeking an experienced Managing Director to serve as the principal business and administrative leader for Crossroads Live, North America. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Managing Director will play a vital role in the financial health, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability of the organization. This role oversees all corporate functions including oversight of the general management and production departments and will be a strong collaborator with internal and external stakeholders.
As Managing Director, you will lead the organization’s business operations and corporate functions, serving as the central point of accountability for financial performance, business affairs, and operational execution. You will act as the primary lead on budgeting, contract negotiation, rights management, human resources, and commercial operations. This role operates across a complex, multi-market touring portfolio and requires leadership of cross-functional teams spanning finance, production, and business affairs.
This role is central to driving the financial success, operational excellence, and strategic growth of Crossroads Live North America. We are looking for a candidate with excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects and program initiatives concurrently. The Managing Director must have a passion for leadership, theater, and the arts and must be ready to make a significant impact on a major commercial touring organization, while remaining curious, and seeking win-win scenarios.

The role:
The Managing Director serves as the leader of business operations for Crossroads Live North America, responsible for financial performance, operational execution, and long-term strategic growth. Reporting to the CEO, this role co-leads the organization and oversees all corporate, human resource, and business affairs functions across a dynamic portfolio of touring theatrical productions.
Collaborative and Strategic Executive Leadership:
Develop and instill a culture of strategic thought and planning where the reasoning and rationale behind execution of activities are clearly articulated to the executive team and staff.
Partner with the executive team to develop and execute the organization’s vision and long-term strategy
Develop and execute long-term business plans for commercial productions, tours, and investments
Evaluate new projects for financial viability, risk, and return on investment
Establish effective decision-making processes that will enable the organization to achieve goals.
Ensure that all decisions and initiatives are clearly communicated to the organization.
Drive and embrace innovative thinking around ways to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving society and arts environment and ways to extend Crossroads North America business model both nationally and internationally.
Business Affairs and Finance:
Lead negotiation and execution of complex licensing, rights, and commercial agreements.
Serve as the main point of contact for all outside legal counsel and synthesize results and advice for the organization.
Oversee the organization’s financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, and performance management across all productions and corporate functions
Oversee organizational forecasting and financial reporting across multiple shows
Provide oversight for investor relations and recoupment strategies
Become knowledgeable and maintain a complete understanding of collective bargaining Agreements for AEA, IATSE, SDC, and AFM
Assess and advise on all corporate insurance needs
People Operations:
Develop and implement people strategies that align with business goals, enhancing organizational efficiency.
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, payroll, benefits, and compensation to ensure a high-performing workforce.
Work with all stakeholders to align on policies and procedures including the finance, producing, general management, booking, and production departments.
Ensure all job descriptions are accurate and accessible to the organization.
Create and oversee a performance review plan that focuses on employee development.
Create and review all company policies for operational impact, improving internal systems to enhance the employee experience and streamline administrative operations.
Ensure adherence to labor laws, regulations, company policies and procedures
Serve as a resource for all employees on matters of HR; perform official investigations when needed
Secure and administer corporate employee benefits
Shape organizational structure, leadership development, and talent strategy to support the company’s long-term growth
Work with Humanity Advisor on engagement and employee welfare
What you'll bring to the role
Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of professional experience in an administrative or entertainment executive role, preferably in the arts.
Experience working directly in and with executive leadership.
Ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience with ownership over multi-million-dollar budgets and/or P&Ls.
Experience negotiating high value commercial agreements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Superior time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Motivated, intuitive self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively in a multi-faceted environment.
Ability to prioritize tasks and problem-solve effectively.
Demonstrated leadership skills effectively managing in a complex organization.
Demonstrates discretion and treats confidential information appropriately.
A sense of humor, strong interpersonal skills, and professionalism.

This is an onsite position.
We are based in Rockville, MD, a suburb of Washington, DC. The location of our corporate office provides the comfort of suburban living while being easily accessible to NYC by train. SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary range is $165,000- 175,000/annually, depending on experience.
