Job Brief
As a General Manager at Crossroads Live UK, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of our productions, from early planning through to running shows across the UK and internationally. You will act as a primary point of contact for productions, ensure clear and timely communication across teams, and support the Executive Producer in delivering high-quality, well-run productions.
Reporting to: Executive Producer
Location: Primarily at Crossroad’s office in Covent Garden, London. Travel (domestic and international) will be required.
Core hours: Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm, with additional work as required (TOIL may apply).
What You’ll Do
Financial & Administrative Management
Prepare and manage production budgets (pre-production and weekly running).
Oversee Profit & Loss accounts, recoupment schedules, and royalty pools.
Manage in-house accounts and approve weekly payroll.
Arrange insurance for productions and oversee all related documentation.
Contracts, Recruitment & Compliance
Work with Directors on casting as needed, and work with Casting Directors to coordinate the casting process.
Lead or coordinate all aspects of recruitment for creative teams, cast, crew and stage management in accordance with budget and union agreements.
Ensure all contracts and deal memos are accurate, issued promptly and recorded systematically.
Monitor union agreements and ensure employer obligations are met.
Oversee visas, work permits and tax exemptions for UK and international personnel.
Production & Company Management
Work closely with the Company Manager on the management of production staff, including resolving HR matters as they arise.
Partner with Production Managers on technical and logistical planning, ensuring H&S compliance.
Manage travel, accommodation, transport and per diems.
Support wellbeing services and staff training, including anti-racism training.
Touring, Theatre Deals & Settlements
Lead UK and international tour booking and negotiate theatre and promoter deals.
Prepare, issue and approve contractual agreements.
Review and approve theatre settlements.
Press, Marketing & Audience Engagement
Oversee press and media nights, invitations, logistics and hospitality, within budget.
Liaise with press and marketing teams; represent Crossroads Live at meetings.
Oversee programmes, merchandise and approvals.
Support planning and implementation of access performances and maintain awareness of developments within this area.
Leadership & Team Oversight
Manage Production Assistants, Associate GMs and Coordinators.
Provide updates to senior management, licensors and co-producers.
Attend running shows, including overseas, including final cover runs, on a regular basis.
Promote Equity, Diversion and Inclusion policies, training and procedures.
What We’re Looking For
Experience at General Manager level, ideally on large-scale commercial musicals.
Touring experience, including international experience is a bonus.
Strong HR, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; calm under pressure.
Collaborative leadership style; respect for the creative process.
Interest in expanding into international touring or bringing touring experience to CXL.
Salary
Competitive dependent on experience.
